compassionate & Targeted approach
My style as a therapist is to be your trusted ally and a supportive champion for your healing. Our sessions will be a place of thoughtful discussion infused with warmth, compassion and honesty. Laughter, tears and “a-has” are par for the course. We will celebrate and leverage your strengths as well as develop new awareness and skills to help you achieve a more satisfying life.
Although the decision to enter therapy is a powerful step toward meaningful improvements in your life, I recognize it is not an easy decision for many. The demands of today’s busy world can get in the way of making time and justifying the expense. My job is to support you using the best of my clinical ability, while respecting the value of your time and resources.
In order to keep us on track with the issues that matter most to you, we will work collaboratively to set goals for therapy. While we will tend to and explore other relevant areas of focus that emerge, you can rest assured that your most pressing concerns will be the priority. I encourage you to give feedback throughout the process to ensure your needs are being met and your time spent is worthwhile.
My approach draws on a variety of proven techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#95759) providing counseling to adults, couples, youth and families in downtown San Francisco and Marin County. After many years in the corporate world, I shifted gears to fulfill my lifelong dream of working with people to enhance their relationships and overcome personal challenges. I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Dominican University and hold a B.A. in Psychology from UCLA.
I have experience treating a large variety of issues, including relationship issues, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, suicidality, anger and stress management. I have two main areas of focus in my practice: 1) Supporting busy professionals in relationships and life transitions; and 2) Family-related issues (family of origin wounds, parenting, divorce, work/life balance, parent-child relationships). I have extensive experience working with youth and families, have worked in elementary, middle and high schools, and am Certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
