empowering parents to encourage positive child behaviors
Do you wish your household felt calmer and your days ran more smoothly? Do you find yourself having to repeat instructions to your child over and over? Do you sometimes lose your cool, but love your kids so much and worry about the impact of these moments? If this sounds like you, I offer Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for families with children ages 2-7 in my Marin office.
What is PARENT-CHILD INTERACTION THERAPY (PCIT)?
PCIT is a proven family therapy treatment for families with children ages 2-7. Unlike other family therapy or parenting strategies, PCIT provides real-time support and coaching for parents. Utilizing a one-way mirror, parents are guided by the therapist on how to apply consistent and predictable parenting strategies to the most challenging of child behaviors. PCIT can help with:
- Sibling rivalry
- Separation anxiety
- Behavioral problems in school
With PCIT, you will become less stressed and more confident in your ability to handle challenging moments. Your child will develop more appropriate behaviors and increase his or her self-esteem. More information about this protocol can be found on the PCIT International website.
